Dawson City Music Festival, Day One 7.19.02
Today started out pretty overcast for a while but we gathered by the riverside gazebo to hang out, play some frisbee and conversate. You could definitely tell there were more people coming into town. Tonight is the first night of the Dawson City Music Festival. At 6pm we gathered by the festival tent for a little orientation about what was required of us as volunteers. Seemed like some pretty cool people around of all sorts that had joined the team. We all just pretty much wanted a free show. I got some hours in the day after someone didn't show. For signing up for 12 or so hours of work, I got 3 tickets to the fest. I quickly sold 2 for 20 bucks a piece. I'll keep the Sunday one for myself. Tomorrow I'll work the day and then probably see Fish Head Stew at night at the Pit. The whole day went really smooth. I met tons of people and had great chats and listened to great music, having an overall sweet time. I can't wait for tomorrow. One of the hightlights of the evening had to be a huge drum circle that got going outside of the concert tent in the beer garden. Everyone was jamming and the beats were nice and loud and you just couldn't help not moving some part of your body to the rhythm. After-hours was once again on the streets. We went to the gazebo by the river for a little more frisbee and drum circle. Then it was off to bed. I visited our neighbors at the campground who were still partying hard. They were all nice and we talked for a while and smoked a bit of herb before I got to bed. (5 miles)
Peace
