10.11.02 Port Townsend
It was a pretty lazy morning after a good nights sleep. I made a fat Spanish omelet for Michael and Reed after Peggy left for work. I got to upload my photos using their computer while Michael, Reed, and Janet were out and about for a while. I decided I’d back some cookies later on but the day was nice so I enjoyed the sunshine while practicing my hacky sack skills. Michael came back and I helped him hang a couple of large doors on his newly added basement. He explained a bit about the house and how he built the addition. It seemed like quite the project. After Reed returned, he found out there would be no oyster harvest for Saturday’s (tomorrow) Farmers Market. Reed has been working at an oyster farm on the hood canal. The owner was going to showcase their clams and oysters to promote a local market. But there was news of biotoxins in the area so they decided to play it safe. Reed and I took a trip through Port Townsend to pick up a part at a boat yard he was going to use to fix his car and also to get some ingredients for chocolate chip cookies. I got busy making cookies when we got back and Peggy and Michael, and Rachel, a local 10-year old girl kept busy outside pressing apples and pears into juice. I made 4 trays of peanut butter chocolate chip walnut cookies that turned out perfect. Michael jumped right back in the kitchen and started preparing dinner. Tonight’s menu included fresh tuna, garden potatoes, and garden cucumber salad. I killed time on the computer and read the paper while Reed helped Janet prepare for tomorrow morning’s SAT test. I remember those tests! Janet is in her senior year and looking at small colleges in the Midwest much like the one I attended. Michael rang the dinner bell and we all sat down for a delicious meal. The tuna was delicious as were the garden fresh produce. We had cookies and mint chocolate chip ice cream (my favorite) for dessert and then I showed the family some travel photos and work photos I keep on disc. I don’t know why but I was pretty tired by this point as we everyone else. I looked over a map and decided that tomorrow’s ride to Seattle wouldn’t be too difficult and I could probably leave around noon. I told Peggy I’d like to go to the farmer’s market with her in the morning. After some writing, I hit the bed for some Z’s.
Peace
