OCT 14 bike show Toronto

Is anyone going to this? Has anyone gone to this show in the past? I don't really *need* anything, but thought I might check it out to see what it's all about.

I was at the spring show - hadn't really planned on it, just was down in Toronto that weekend. It was interesting. If you're even considering buying something, know your prices. Some of them were good deals, some of them weren't. I called a show afterwards to buy a bike, but it had sold not long after my wife's test ride - had been a good deal, but I wasn't familiar with the model.

Regardless, there're lots of cool companies with interesting product, test track, bike polo demo, etc.

Actually, I guess a bunch of that stuff isn't at the fall show.

Yeah, I was at the spring show as well. I went both days, thought it was pretty cooll. Agreed, have to know your prices especially when comparing to online stores. I got ripped on some pedals. As I understand it the fall show is just sales. But hey maybe I'll meet some chicks lol

The Spring and Fall are nothing alike. If you want deals, the Fall show is the best place to go. Everyone is selling off year end stock. I have gone multiple times and have never walked out empty handed. Not only bikes but tools, clothing and there is always a huge selection of bike shoes. Get there early because the lines get very long before it opens, then the mad rush to get into. Even paying for your merchandise means waiting in line. It's a great place for deals.

Since the show is coming up again, and I never went last year....did you see any high end stuff there last year? Specifically I'm looking for some deep dish Zipp wheels and a Sram Red groupset for the next bike.

I doubt you will have much luck finding those. The bargains are on discontinued stuff and clearouts. Some retailers will buy a big stock of clearouts from their distributor and unload them at the show. It's all about volume. No one is bringing one-off, high end stuff.
