I'm a TBS addict; been going for years.
Great place to get deals on stuff that wouldn't sell last year.
I always seem to find something I "need".

I'm going to the show this year for the first time in my life.

^Since you been going to the show for years, for how much do you think I will be able to get a mountain bike with hydraulic disc brakes at the show?

Yes, I'm planning on going. I was planning on going last year, but we got hit with a huge snowstorm the day before. Spent the day digging out. Hopefully it will be better weather this year.

Definitely going.

Not planning to buy anything at all.

Let's see how that one pans out.

No, I went in 2005 and I went last year. Not worth it. Here's a link to my blog entry for last year:

I just like looking at all the bikes I'm not going to buy, wondering why top tubes are suddenly going square, or what strange colors they think we want to buy. I pay almost that to go to the movies, and that's over in 90 minutes. This is hours of enjoyment. And the lines tend to be shorter than for the fall show, which is just stupid. I will not go to that one again.

Unless I change my mind, of course.

I"m thinking of going to the Bike Show this weekend. Does anyone know what the rough savings you'll get on winter gear? I'm preparing for next year. I find buying summer gear at the fall show good for some deals as the weather is cooling but when you're trying to buy winter gear in the fall the prices/deals don't lower much. Yah I guess it's because the dealers know you'll need the winter gear as an essential item thus they hold thier pricing ground without much price shift until spring comes then they're more willing to negociate on price as they don't want to keep winter stock takingup space.

I am never sure how good the deals are on either winter or summer stuff. I bought a jacket at the fall show a couple of years ago, and it's been a good purchase (except for the tab breaking off the zipper), and I saw some nice looking wool jerseys last year.

But I admit these shows all blend into one. I got free passes for several years, so this is the first time I've actually had to pay for it.

Is this show worth driving 130km? 260 round trip?
Should I just stay home and patronize my LBS?
How much is parking up there in the smog?

James, Perhaps not every year, but we're coming down from Buckhorn tomorrow. It was at the Bike Show 6 years ago I picked up a new BOB trailer at half price and was introduced to MBS Tandems, a wonderful company we've been dealing with ever since. For us it's about the community of cyclists and the contacts. You never know where it will lead you.

It was an interesting time I had at the show today. Very excellent bike displays and the trials competition was excellent.

Me walking out with a brand new Norco Katmandu mountain bike is how the day ended

I was undecided but after reading your post I will go tomorrow, (Sunday).
Congratulations on your new wheels!

Bill.

I didn't enjoy it as much this year. Didn't really drool over anything, and came out with nothing.

And then the weather was so wonderful that I went for a ride.

Great show. Got myself some cheap bibs, socks, and a jacket. No $$ for a bike this year though.

I got my new bike at the Silent Sports dealer, for $419, which included no PST and a $90 discount from the real value of like $489.
