How to sell a used $2500-3000 Bike in the Canadian Market

Obviously, the price of bikes is higher in Canada than it is in the US.

How does one go about selling them though? I've tried the MTBR classifieds, Kijiji, and Craigslist, and here.

Thx

It's a long-standing tradition here in Canada to donate such a bike to the author of the first reply on BF

I've been here a long time...don't remember that tradition....but, for $2500 shipping fee, I can make the donation happen!

On a serious note, be careful when meeting someone - the price tag is high enough that some bad guys could try to force it away from you. I don't know how much better it is to meet in a public place. I suppose it is better, but having someone else with you might be wise.

MEC has a gear swap section on their website--might be worth putting it up there.

While it is true that bikes are more expensive in Canada than elsewhere, a lot of the asking prices I've seen on Kijiji and CL have been pretty wildly optimistic.

+1 on the Gear Swap. I have sold a couple of things on there without any issue and although it doesn't get as many hits, I find the buyers to be a bit more knowledgeable than other places. The other option that I have slowly started to avoid is Ebay. Although the prices you can fetch are often fairly good, the risks are a bit more than a local transaction. Also, all of the ebay and paypal fees tend to add up to where it's a bit harder to earn some good coin.
