A group of us are riding to Niagara Falls and returning by Go Train on Saturday August 21

Feel free to join us at the start - Meet 9am at the North West corner of Queen’s Quay and York Street.
Ride should take 6-8 hours, with time for dinner in Niagara Falls and to catch the 720pm train back to Union Station, arriving at 920pm.

Most of the riders are TBN members and ride at a fairly brisk pace, but all are welcome.
Distance – Approx 150km plus an optional second escarpment climb and descent for the truly ambitious.

This is an unsupported ride, but route map and meeting spot in Niagara Falls will be provided at start.

I'm looking to bike to Niagara Falls in a couple weeks...could you suggest a route for me? I'll be taking the train back if possible.

The GO train only runs seasonally, and that ended in September. You can go by GO bus or Via train, but GO bus is much better option. It's about half the price.

I was not able to attach a file for some reason, so below is a the route map we used this past summer, more or less. Its pretty well along the lake. You can disregard the optional climb as I assume you want the most direct route. Also, you can bypass Niagara on the Lake and save a few KM's by turning right at East-West Road, as indicated on the chart about four rows from the bottom.

You should call Go Transit to ensure they can transport your bike back on the bus and to confirm the schedule. Its quite a gutsy trip at this time of year, as the winds gusting off the lake and across the plains might be quite strong and cold, but best of luck on this journey.

I can't vouche for that being the best possible route, but there it is. Maybe it's the worst possible route, I dunno. I had all kinds of road closures, which will appear randomly on my track.

My ride south to RR81 via Jordan Station was just me not paying attention, and being on the south (wrong) service road at Jordan Harbour. Don't do that, either take RR 81 from Beamsville or stick to the North Service Road.

Ghettocruiser, I see you ended your route in Fort Erie...is there any reason you chose that as your endpoint? I'm concerned about the wind along the lakeshore...is it really much worse than anywhere else? I'm going to head out for a couple hours east along the lake in a few days to preview the route a bit. Also this trip looks like its gonna take me a bit longer than I though it would - wish there was more time to prepare.

Fort Erie was the destination. Friends and relatives there. Passed right by The Falls along the way.

When I did the ride from Oakville in 2007 I took King St from Hamilton to RR81, pretty busy and pretty bad pavement at the time, plus tons of red lights compared to the Service Roads. Not recommended. RR81 is much better past Beamsville in wine country

If you want to skip the Niagara-on-the-Lake excursion (Niagara Stone road is busy on weekends, although there is a side path now if you're into that kind of thing) you can just go through St. David's right to the bottom of the Brock's Monument climb.
