Canada's largest fundraising event...The Enbridge Ride To Conquer Cancer.

I am registered to ride this year and I am asking for donations so I can reach my pledge goal. I lost my dad, my grandfather, my aunt, 2 uncles and one of my best friends to cancer and want to do what I can to help eradicate this scourge from our lives. We all have been, or know som eone who has been touched by this dreaded disease.

It would be wonderful if my fellow BF members could help me with a donation so that I may ride. If you would like to help me, please visit my personal webpage at:
https://www.conquercancer.ca/site/TR?...s_tafId=248748

If you would like to learn more about the ride, please visit: www.conquercancer.ca

Thank you for reading my post.

Regards,

Brian J.

I have done two in Toronto and two in Vancouver so won't be riding this year. I will be a solo unofficial cheering station on a short climb up Appleby though. Enjoy the ride and thanks to those who participate as riders or donors.

I volunteered at the start last year and had a ball. I was so envious of the riders.

My son in law does this ride on a regular basis. He is a Toronto paramedic and rides with their team.

The team name is Paramedics for a cure. I just now found out he is not riding next year.

I just had a conversation with him about it, and as he put it, donor fatigue has set in. He's done the ride for the last 3 years, and it's been getting harder and harder to raise the minimum pledge quota. This year he just barely made it, so he's going to give it a rest for a while. Others in his group have found the same thing.
I don't want to discourage you, it's a worthy cause, just so you know, the ride itself is the easy part.

That was my logic. I rode for three years in a row, and I raised something like $14k over that period. But each year the donations were smaller. It's time to give my donors a break.

Having said that I admit I am a little tempted to ride the Vancouver ride because I know someone going through nightmare cancer treatments at VGH right now.

I had hard enough time reaching the minimum the first time!

The ride this year was great and a wonderful experience, but I don't think I will register for 2012. I'm still considering it, but running out of time.

Good luck, baj32161!
