New E Rider
Hi all, I m a new E rider, I live on beautiful Southern Vancouver Island. We have a little farm, and we produce alot of healthy products. We like to be as self sufficient as possible. Along the way I got into solar power and have a 1kw aray that powers a battery bank and inverters. To mark turning 50 I bought a Velec R 48+ E Bicycle, which has never had any other charge in it other than solar. Its my first EV.
Trips to the grocery store, hardware and everywhere else are now done by E bike. My average speed is 30km/h, a little slower with my trailer loaded. I m not a biker, just someone who really wanted to be more independant from fossil fuel and create my own fuel too. Riding a quality E bike is like being 12 years old again, I ve let many people try my bike, and they all are just amazed, one gal said she just laughed the whole time riding it. Good thing I m not rich, cause I would start to collect E bikes. I m glad I found this forum. |
Welcome, Yes it sure feels good to me too when ever I do get to charge up my E-Assist bike by solar panel.(which I have done for the last 3 holidays) going on average 800KM a trip without plugging into the wall is a great feeling of independence and you get to see ssooo much more riding a bike compared to driving that it is a completely different holiday... Riding around town to do things on the E-Assist bike is also something I started to do, which I didn't without the E-Assist...

Love my bright red Velec R48 too. It's never had a solar charge but I use it for commutes to work, long rides and windy days. It's a joy to ride and a model of efficiency. And nothing but admiration from the local kids when I float by. One shouted out "Wow, that bike is sick!" I know that's a compliment :)

Happy 50th!
