Front or rear wheel drive in the snow?

I'm just wondering about this: are front wheel drive ebikes better on snow and ice than rear wheel drive ebikes?. Assuming appropriate tires.

Or, has anyone tried two wheel drive?

Pedal on the rear, electric on the front?

That's me; however, I have just ordered the kit and cannot say how well it will work. I point is that there seems to be an upper limit on the speed that the studs will work at. On my bike I found that at over 9mph the studs were not grabbing the hard ice.

Look at the myriad of articles in electricfatbike.com. Karl seems to prefer mid drives (at last reading) for snow, but has tried two wheel drive too and found it effective. Useless to me residing in socal, but still fun to read.
