Using Currie eZip 1000 electrics for mid drive?

Hello,

I have a decent entry-level mountain bike with removable cranks, disc brakes and Shimano gears. I also have a Currie eZip 1000 (bought in 2009). I wonder if I could remove the bicycle cranks and marry up the eZip motor and gearbox to the bicycle front sprocket shaft. I want to do a mid drive so I can use the bicycle gears. Having never taken apart the scooter, I don't know if this is feasible or not, or how much effort it would take to make it work. Anyone familiar with the eZip 1000 who could offer an opinion?

Thanks!
