Trouble installing new battery i bought online
 

I bought a battery from Aliexpress as was advised to do so from the guy that distributes the bike i have. He is the only one that distributes the ebike i have in australia. As i cant get him until monday aussie time i thought i would try and get some advice here. I finally got the meter lights to show on the handlebar after the distributor said to reverse the polarity with the pins that sit under the battery but the battery doesn't last long and from my observation it goes to green(charged) too quickly. My battery that i have been using for 2-3 years since i bought the bicycle has more life in it than this one i bought. Which basically has the same specs as the original according to the distributor. I can see though the pins(4) that the battery connects with have a different base so i am trying to find things to lodge in there. They included a different set of pins to rewire into the bike but the distributor said on the phone(he is in a different state than me otherwise i would take it to him to install) no you just have to switch the pins around as the polarity was the issue. The phone line was bad and i think he mentioned something about doing more than that. The new battery came also with a base plate that was different so have to work out how i am going to be able to put the old battery back on without having to unscrew and rescrew the old plate. This is the ezigos page on the batteries he normally sells Electric Bike Batteries | replacement batteries for e-bikes . Basically he said he is winding down the business and he may or may not order more batteries so he recommended i get it myself from aliexpress.

It may be that the battery is bad. At 10ah it should last a while. When it is charged, and your bike is using it, does your bike ride fine? If so then I would think the battery is hooked up fine. If you were only getting say 18 volts, you'd know it.

You might try this which has worked for me with stubborn lithium batteries. Put it on the charger until it is charged, take it off for a few minutes and put it back on. Keep doing it over and over and over. Sometimes the charger thinks the battery is charged, but it is not. When you plug it first in, it charges it a little. But taking it off and putting it back on you keep giving it a little more juice until it is 100%. At the point the lithium battery tends to remember it's full charge.

If you can, charge your FIRST battery and check the voltage. Charge the SECOND battery and check its voltage. They should be around the same. If you find that your second battery is LESS than the first battery then you know it's not taking a complete charge.

Hi thanks it doesn't seem 100% in power. The speed is reduced but only about 20%. Hard to gauge accurately but the bike computer shows there is a reduction. The Meter on the handle bar shows a reduction too.

Yes i tried that with the charging about 5 times i think. I did an all night for some of these too. I am thinking the charger they sent with the battery is faulty. Should i try my previous charger?
Hi yes i have thought of checking the voltage and i do have a meter but i have no clue how to use it. I would need some type of diagram. People have tried explaining how to use it with something else and i didnt understand.

Since your batteries are the same, you should be able to use your first charger with the second battery with no problem. You would only run into a problem if one was say 24 volts and the other was 36 volts. It is possible that the new charger is misreading the new battery and turning off early. I would try with the old charger.

Yes my understanding is they are both 36v. There is nothing written on either that i know of. Anyway have charger plugged in now and it reads with a red led light. The charger that came with the new battery read with a green light . The other clue i have that something is wrong is that the last two times that i went out for a cycle the battery was getting lower and not higher in charge according to the meter on the handlebar as i used the throttle. So i wonder if the new charger really works at all. Anyway will get it a few hours and see if the light goes to green and see how much power i get on my next cycle experience tomorrow. Glad i was thinking overtime about this last night :0)

Determine how long has the battery pack has been left in an uncharged state for. If left uncharged for under 6 months you may be able to successfully recharge the battery pack. However if left uncharged for over 6 months then it is almost always the case that the battery pack is defective. If you know that the scooter has been sitting for a long time without being recharged then you can safely assume that the battery pack has become defective. If battery is working then you can install your new battery easily with repair loader manual.

Oh dont know how i would determine that. Um that site is about motor bikes or scooters that are road vehicles. I have an ebike. Update is that i used the old charger on it and it seems to be working well. I just have to see how many miles i am getting out of each charge on average. I should get 40km's or more depending on hills etc. As i did with the old battery when it was new. The fitting of the battery was harder though and it is not sitting in the best position so will get into that when i have more time...thanks

I suggest you please fit your battery with help of wires and when It connects It will be give you 40km's more average because It's new battery. Please check this link I am searching a section of Electric bike in repair loader .

Sorry I don't understand about the wires comment. 40km's or more? Is that what you mean? I have ridden a couple of days and havent done 40km's yet so i am seeing if the battery will last for 40km's...when i ride tomorrow maybe i will reach 40km's. I couldn't see anything there about ebikes...just motorbikes

Actually I want to say please check your battery wires are connected correct or not, After that you will check your electric bike speed, I hope It will be give you 40km's more then average.

What wires? i didnt connect any wires to fit the battery on. Yeah seems the speed is slower....used to get top speed on the flat 32kmph(maybe with a different bike computer?) and now top is 24kmph. Seems i am getting 40km's. There is a different way the handlebar is reading this battery....the amount of lights does its things differently. Hard to explain as i had 2-3 years of the older battery.
Yeah i dont understand that website.
