Advice on mid drive or front wheel hub motor?

Hi everyone,
My bike is: MTB Giant Talon 3 – 2016 model that comes with Hydraulic brakes and has 27.5 inch tires.

I am confused about two e bike kits: Bafang mid drive motor BBS02 750W 48v, or the new Leed 500W series front wheel hub motor?

With the Leed hub motor, I will not get rid of my front derailleur and the headache of front chain wheel size with the mid drive, as well as the Hydraulic brakes! I know the mid drive is more powerful. I like it but I want to hear your experiences.

I have lots of hills. 80% cycling in the city. No cargo to carry. Sharing the road mostly with vehicles. The wanted speed is no more 25-30 Mph. I expect to carry the battery charger with me.

Any recomendations on my options to choose, I would be more than thankful.

Thanks again.

AFAIK, the Talon has a suspension fork which, to me, is taboo for a front hub system. Additionally, hub driven motors (for me) aren't as effective at ascending as mid-drives; there are exceptions: my 1000w, 52V rear hub climbs well and the BionX 500w rear hub that I've tested is exceptional. Don't know where you reside, but it would be informative to test ride a few e-bikes.

Bikes: This list got too long: several ‘bents, an urban utility e-bike, and a dahon D7 that my daughter has absconded with.

I agree with the above, that what you have is not ideal for a front hub. A mid drive is a better choice and it allows you to use your rear gears. The bafang mid drive is well regarded. If you want more power there is the cyclone 3Kw and Lightning Rods kits (frankly, i don't recommend them. They are great, well regarded units, and the lightning Rods kit is incredibly well built; but they are well over the 750W that is legal in most places).

I'll 2nd the mid-drive for that bike and your hills. I've never used a front hub E-motor and have read that they aren't the best for off-road use partly because they spin when the front gets light.

Thanks for all your opinions. Appreciated.
I will wait for more.
I actually like the mid drive, but the front chain ring what causes me a headache. Some advised me 40T and some 48T, or the Lekkie Bling ring 42 !!!
Anyhow, let's see

Really, just get a bafang Mid Drive 750W and use the chain ring it comes with. It is the best balance of cost, ease of use and install, and performance. No, it isn't what I went with; but I have specific reasons for what I got.
