evelo Aurora vs Trek XM 700+

Started kicking the tires on an ebike, my first.

So far, I've narrowed it down to evelo Aurora vs Trek XM 700+

I'm interested in owners experience.

My needs include:

mid-motor
able to navigate fire roads
easy mountain trails
reliable
pedal assist
at least ~ 25 miles on city streets/bike paths, more would be better

Thx

Well, its been a few weeks, what did you decide? there is about $1000 difference in price. trek is one color only. depends on which motor you order from Evelo. Does Trek have a throttle? and do you want a throttle? I'm interested in Evelo, but concerned about maintenance after the buy. Plus there aren't many Ebikes in Vermont. plus I would mirrors to see who's coming up behind me. I would want a suspension seat post too.

ended up with Diamondback Bikes - Trace EXC because it was on sale for ~1900, plus, REI has a 365 day return policy, if it doesn't suit me.

I've found that the ebike marketplace in the US is fractured and many, if not most, bike shops don't carry ebikes in stock. I ordered the bike online without test driving. Should pick it up in a few days.

Ok, its been a few days. Is the Diamondback the bike you like? Which I could not find on sale at REI.
and you are so right about LBS stocking. They'll carry $8000 road bikes, but not a $2800 ebike.

I am interested in hearing about your experiences with the new e-bike. How is it going?
