Bike won't fold

Hi. I just got Cemoto e08 folding bike and so far I love it. One problem I have is I can't fold the damn thing. I unlock it in the middle and it is stuck. I've even stood on it and tried to pull up but it won't budge. Am I doing something wrong? Is there something else besides the one latch (see arrow in pic)?

Got this from Safewholesale.com. Yeah, I know, I should have read the reviews on the company first, but that's past now and I need to be able to fold the bike. Their customer service in horrible.

So any clues? Is it just frozen from the paint, is there another latch. Is there a special tool I could use? I don't want to b ust anything forcing it. Thanks.

Just one more thing. The handle bars seem to be a little loose, just a little. If I pull back on them and then push forward there's seems to be a little too much play where they go into the fork near the front light. It rides good and nothing makes noise, so I was just wondering if that's typical.

You might post your question at http://www.bikeforums.net/electric-b...ing-ebike.html and/or PM one of the other owners referenced there.

Not sure what you mean about the handlebars, but if you are referring to the stem going into the headtube, I'd get that resolved before riding the bike again.

If you haven't folded it yet, take a close up picture of the latch.. guessing, release the quick release handle, rotate it outboard and possibly push it down, or pull it up, or look for a secondary lever or button to push... can't tell much from your image..

You need to PUSH it SIDEWAYS, not PULL IT UP.

Yeah I know how it supposed to work,. It doesn't.

Of course I know how it's supposed to open. I stood on it while it was on the laying on it's side on the ground and tried to pull the front up, which is sideways if the bike was standing up.

Ok, got you. As suggested, take a close up clear picture of the latch. It's definitely hard to tell what's wrong when it's so difficult to see.

Okay got it.

After I undo the latch, I have to push down on it. I guess it's for additional safety. There was absolutely no instructions on this anywhere and even some vids I watched failed to mention this. This was my first folding bike, so I had no clue.

The company I got it from saferwholesale.com is the worst. They take your money and then you can whistle in the wind for all they care. I should have checked reviews first, but it was a decent price and came in a couple of days.

Thanks for your help and I probably will be back sometime, I'm sure something else will come up or maybe I'll just check what's happening. Thanks again.

PS. I'm going to take this to a bike store and check the movement in the handle bars where it goes into the fork.

Just an update on this thread. The movement is corrected by simply tightening the 2 big nuts where the handle bar goes into the fork. Still a little play but not nearly as much.

Love this bike. My legs aren't that great anymore so it's nice that I can pedal as little or as much as I want.
