While you are composing a note to answer the above, I'll comment that the only thing you can switch between a brushed motor and a brushless motor is the battery, The controllers are incompatible. Controllers for a brushed motor are pretty inexpensive though, as you don't even need one to spin the motor if you don't care about its speed.

Is this a scooter or is it a bicycle? Some 48V scooters are brushed motors. Probably very few brushed 48V bikes.

If you can see the controller, a brushed controller pn;y needs two heavy wires to the motor. A brushless motor will have three heavy wires and up to six signal wires.

What is wrong with the scooter? Did it run when you bought it and doesn't run now?
Keep posting info and eventually you will have the 10 posts needed to include pictures.

Hi it was a non runner no keys no charger a bargain at £65 after getting home found the battery was lithium battery not lead acid, and it was burned out, and as the scooter had been stood for some time the battery box also had water in so the battery was rusty, however some cell still read 3.75v. I had 4 12v 7.5hr sealed batteries as a test and to my surprise the motor ran OK but only about 15 km because of the low amp I think now ordered the correct batteries. The other problem is I can not get all the lights and indicators that sort of things to work it also has a alarm, instrument panel works showing the it has only done 2500miles.

It is not difficult to test for fuses and globes with lights.

If you can really not get the lights working you could easily modify the wiring to fix it. You would probably need a voltage reducer, to supply the correct voltage.

Try everything you can to get it working as is, before any modifications.

Are you still waiting for the new battery? Maybe some things are not working because the battery you are using is not putting out enough power. Check what you can now, but don't do anything too radical until you use the new battery. Everything might just work.

That's good that the controller works. Sometimes the lights are operated thru the display/controller, but it would seem easier to do a work around than replace the controller, unless you can find the exact replacement.
