Question [SOLVED] [newbie] Use any battery with same voltage?

Hello,

If the e-bike maker can't provide a replacement for weeks or even months… can I use any other battery as long as the voltage is the same?

Can the software/BMS tell I'm not using the same brand that was on the bike originally?

Thak you.

Won't be a problem FME as long as the new battery can supply the amps. Frequently (especially with OEM's) is the connectors for controller and battery.

From my experience.

Most OEM bikes have different connection systems from the battery to the controller. My DIY bikes all use XT-90's (look up if you don't know what they are), so I can use any of my 52V batteries on any of my bikes (with the exception of my Haibike which has its own dedicated 36V system).

Thanks. I might even need to get a different controller if it turns out the original controller can't be connected or won't talk to a foreign battery.

FYI, the connector from the battery to the controller can be proprietary too, and you'll need to either learn to connect the sensors from the motor to the controller properly or procure a self-teaching one. It would be helpful to take a couple of pictures and tell us which system you have. Also, there are many well versed individuals on endless sphere; this can be a valuable resource.
