No matter how embarrassing it ends up being for a driver like this, they will try to get in front of a bike as much as they can. Even though once they get in front of the bike, they will essentially just be in the same spot eventually or even the bike might catch up because they'll be stuck in traffic. I cant count how many times I passed the same car 10 times within 10 city blocks. Sometimes I wave as I go by, just to drive the point home that they're rushing for no good reason. Big hurry to wait at the next light.
This happens so often it's so stupid you think you would learn after a while. But nope just keeps happening

Sure, but I'd always rather have a car in front of me than behind me.

What I dislike is when a car passes and then immediately turns off the road into a driveway, etc.

No kidding. I've had minivans floor it to get in front of me then immediately stand on the brakes to turn into a shopping center. The woman's kids in the van learned a few new words that day.

What disturbed me was discovering my situational awareness dropped off in my 50’s so that when I was commuting I started having more and more close calls from vehicles who never saw me until the last minute. I started wearing a safety vest which helped a lot but my radar that always gave me a heads up of incoming and potential escape routes just stopped working as well.

I was moving up a hill the other day and a couple of electric bike riders ran a stop sign as I progressed through the intersection. I didn't have a stop sign. The man floored it, but the lady was caught trying to move ahead of me while trying to pass. I caught myself laughing. I've seen just as much poor driving skills by cyclists as motorists.
