Aventon Soltera.2 making me think I've been cycling all wrong my whole life.
She arrived yesterday two weeks ahead of the estimated shipping date. Assembly was a piece of cake. From the first down stroke in the turbo setting, I've had a permanent smile on my face. Dorothy, I name all of my bikes, is citrine in color and is the large frame. I do wish the frame is a little bigger like Alice, my KHS. Since Dorothy is a class 2, she will max out at 20mph but she constantly does 20mph. Up hills, against the wind, whatever, she doesn't care. She has turn signals and brake lights which the road rage crowd around here seems to love. I tried to upload some pics but the page didn't recognize my jpegs.
I think every bike enthusiast should at least test ride one. I did and that was why I bought mine. I love that bike. Odds are I'm going to convert the KHS since I couldn't find any company who sells an ebike with a frame that big.
Funniest think is that after a ride, I've noticed that I walk faster.

Ms beverg, welcome, one more post and you can exhibit Dorothy in all her glory. Hope you allow the Tin Man and Cowardly Lion to go on your rides.

Nice bike! I also recently bought an Aventon. The dealer network, UL listed powertrain and 2 year warranty helped to sell me on the brand as a safe choice, and they're much more affordable than an e-bike from one of "The Big Three". So far I've very much enjoyed the e-bike - I have some health/fitness issues and this allows me to enjoy cycling again :-).

But I am new to ebikes. Who are the "Big Three"?

I think of Cannondale, Trek, and Specialized as the 3 major (big volume, high quality) American bike makers that have had their bikes available in American bike shops for 30+ years. I have owned Specialized and Trek conventional bikes - they are very nice, but their e-bikes are just out of my price range.

YR, close, but to me the third is Giant (just the name inspires size. Specifically Cannondale makes good bikes but (in socal) they're not sold at bike shops (just REI), and are owned by some foreign conglomerate with GT, Mongoose etc.

These are longstanding, prominent bike makers, but you're right, only in recent years have they added e-bikes to their lineups. I bought a Trek 8000 mountain bike in 1993 as I recall - because the cops had them, and I thought "cool bike!" LOL

I put some new shoes on Dorothy today.

And since I got tired of running out of gear while going downhill, I put on a 55 tooth chain ring. I'll make some new chain guards soon.

I finished cutting the chain guard. It is stainless steel. Probably have to get it powder coated to match the bike.

Looks great, and almost everything I own is black (probably, according to many, my heart). I just thought that red was more appropriate (ho ho ho).

I thought you were going to say ruby.
It's funny. I got the name Dorothy from the movie "Twister". But I'm sure they got the name for the movie from The Wizard of Oz. <shrug>

Nice looking E-bike, much more like a normal bike. I myself have a Kona E-bike with drop bars and aero bars installed. 20-mph, with torque sensor, doesn't require brake cutoffs. And can make 20 mph even into the wind, which I really like. But the flat gods have been upset with me, have had way too many flats on that bike though.

This is one of the ebikes I'm looking at... Interest is for a shopping/errands bike.
I have a question about the tire width, if you can give opinion.
What is the stock tire size, looks fairly thin for a commuter/do everything bike ?
Any thoughts on how wide the chainstays are / what might be the widest tire width which can fit ?
The Averton site is not very thorough on all the tech info - and their 'contact' form wants all sorts of info, which is not needed for a tech answer from them>
Any thoughts on this OP?
Thanks

And before anyone says anything, yes, the front wheel mounts crooked in the fork. By the orientation of the picture, the gap on the right side is smaller than that of the left. If you loosen both nuts, the wheel does slide into what looks like the correct position. But once you tighten both nuts, the wheel gets pulled toward the right. Since I don't get any brake rub or other issues, I'm just leaving it.

After I took that picture, it did start to bother me. That night I rotated the axle until I found a sweet spot were I could tighten it and it didn't move. It took six tries. Makes me think I have a bent axle in that wheel. Warranty time, here I come.
