Help Selecting Folding Electric Scooter
 

Posting this here and hoping youse guys can help me even though its not about a bicycle. I am trying to help a mid 30s young man select a folding scooter for local transportation. He is partially handicapped and has a local, slightly over minimum wage job and can no longer afford his car, its insurance, and upkeep. He is a slow driver and has a good driving record and stays close to home. He is considering an e-scooter and has asked my help but I am completely out of the loop! My net searches have gotten me even more confused. There is allot of informtaoin out there for sure and the subject is completely outside of my bailiwick.

His range is five miles to work, two to the grocery store, three to church, and two to the ice house. About twelve to fifteen miles round trip max.
He weighs about 220 pounds.
He has access to paved streets, some ravel, and a few sidewalks with manageable traffic.
He is looking for a transportation scooter, not an enteretainment scooter.
He has about a 500 USD budget. Maybe a little more with some help from my wife and I.

Rats, I sure wish I could talk him into a bicycle but its just not in his skill set. Maybe latter...

I am far from an expert, but have him look at Segway (ninebot) for stand up and GoTrax for seated since I've read good reviews of them (maybe it was a bicycle for GoTrax).

I would look in your area and see which one has the best support. See if there is scooter shop or possibly an e-moped shop that also does e-scooters and see if they can support the product.
