Tire width for Giant Talon E+
HI All:
I am new to the Forum. I ride a Specialized Fatboy and a Giant Talon E+ Mountain bike. My Giant came with 29" X 2.4" tires. Does anyone know how wide of a tire I can put on this bike? I'd like to go with 2.5" or 2.6" if possible. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks., Jay |
I would do some measuring with some calipers and that will give you an answer. It would also help to figure out what tire you want to go with? A knobby tire will take a bit more space and generally you want good clearance for mud. If looking to run a more road and hardpack gravel oriented tire you won't have the side knobs to take up space and if not riding in mud you won't need quite as much clearance. Generally 3-6mm is good but depending on your riding you may need more.
