Maybe this is the smallest e-bike...

Have you ever seen a e-bike smaller than this before?

This is a Yamaha mid-drive, though compared to Bosch it's also very similar. Yes it does appear a bit safer than a BBSHD. Yamaha has an advantage of us being able to use third-party batteries because the Yamaha battery protocol has been reverse-engineered.

My eBike

Since this photo, I've added panniers for cargo carrying.
Clearly I'm doing something wrong. Every time I post a picture it gets deleted from the thread. I apologize if this is only for eBikes that utilize conversion kits. I bought my eBike (some assembly required) as a way to extend my range. At 71, I have stayed active with the 3-speed I bought when I was 16. I still love it, but there's something to say for pedal assist when you live along a coast andf have to face into the wind on the way home.

I'm getting an electric bike for my father-in-law who's been wanting something that's easy to step over and take up minimal space in their house/garage.
His typical ride for them would be trips to the grocery store 1/2 mile to 2 mile away, maybe occasionally 7-8 miles one-way to the nearest fishing pier along the Bay Parkway in Brooklyn.

I ordered a $950 w/shipping, step-thru ebike, 500w, 48v 12.5 ah, about 55 lb. bike, expecting delivery next MON.
Of course, I will be riding it first.

My Old Beater Bike

I was thinking about buying an ebike, but didn't want a 3rd bicycle; so, I had my old Trek Soho Deluxe retrofitted with a Bafang BBS02 750 Watt mid drive. I tried to continue using the gates belt drive with the 8 speed Nexus IGH, but the alignment was too problematic. I opted for a chain and keeping the IGH.

Cool

After the ordeal with bent fork, derailleur hanger during shipping. I fixed both issues with my extensive spare parts collection in my basement.
I took the ebike out for a 18 miles ride on SAT when is was still dry.

I have to say that fat tire front end took some getting used to, I didn't expect the handling of the bike to be so slow and slow responding on a bicycle.
The PAS mode really puts out significant power with the 500w motor, even at the lowest setting.
At the highest setting, the speed limit of 20 mph is easily obtained within few pedal strokes on flat pavement.
I kept the PAS at the lowest setting for most of the ride, even on the hills; motor provided plenty of juice to make the hills easy compared to lone legs' efforts on lightweight road bike at similar or higher speed.
Once stopped pedaling, the bike slows down rather quickly, even though the fat tire retain momentum nicely, the knobby tires do not offer low rolling resistance.
I'm toying around the idea of putting some narrow 20" or 24" fork/wheel/tire combo to quicken the steering and reduce the weight and rolling resistance of the fat front end setup; since I may replace the bent fork anyway. But I will decide after a few rides off-road or in the snow where these fat tires would be performing in their elements.

Cruiser

My daughter asked for an e-cruiser for her birthday and L'll try to display it below. The battery may be moved before it's completed.

Nice Trek conversion! It goes well with your electric vehicle and charging station.
I recently picked up a Bianchi Manhattan... with a nice discount on last years model.

Is it really true? Ten Posts Before picture/url?

Do I really have to post ten times before I can post a picture of my ebike build?
