that's how an electric bike suppose to look like... clean, no wires, controllers and some ugly battery case and the most important of all is durability. i don't think hub motors with those cheap grip throttle with key switch will last in the streets of NY and other city's with a lot of patch holes. tried it and it broke within 3 weeks of use and observed and researched on those tough chinese ebikes use in chinese restaurant, bike last only for a year and usually motor is replaced. in my own opinion bafang bbs02 is the best ebike kit solution. i have one myself with 185 miles and i think it will last...the motor is only warm when you touch it within a 25 mile of non-stop run.

Not crazy about Panniers though. Too much weight in the rear. The "ugly battery box" is probably better in that regard.

Here is pics of my second ebike it is a Merida TEV 500/550 the controller was shot when I got it and the battery pack and charger where missing I rewired it to take a standard 24v 250watt controller and brake levers that would cut power to the motor I also installed a twist throttle no more pedal assist witch is what I needed it for but still a great little bike very light weight witch I like.

At 84 my balance isn't what it was so I'm pretty well restricted to a trike. I presently ride a Worksman fold a trike and am quite happy with it. The folding feature allows me to load it on the San Diego trolley, which extends my range by a lot of miles. I live on Otay Mesa in San Diego so that means whichever way I go I'm facing some pretty steep hills. It goes up and down those hills like a jackrabbit. I was a bit worried the folding joint might be a weak spot but I've put a lot of miles on it and it doesn't show any problems. I like dealing with an American company and they don't get more American than Brooklyn.

The best thing about this folding e-bike is it's 48v 10a battery that gives me 35 to 40 miles per charge without pedaling (more than advertised), about 50 miles in level 2 assist mode. Only goes about 17 mph (less than advertised) but that's enough for an old man like myself. Picked it up locally for $650, about $30 more than the cost of a replacement battery.

It rides very smoothly on a nicely paved road but the small tires don't take bumps well so I don't take it on any trails. Looking for a 26 inch mountain bike with a more powerful motor so I can explore the woods like I used to before my knees went bad.

My e-bike.

It is simple, affordable, lightweight but is stylish as well. It is a fixie-style electric bike with colorful deep rims. It has a removable battery pack with top speed of 19 MPH. Just like a Tesla car, it has Lithium-ion battery cells which last 15-30 miles before it needs to be recharged. The weight of the bike is under 35 lbs. which is significantly less than the other e-bikes in the market.

New bike!
I only got to ride maybe 6 miles so far today. The other Ebike I rode was a 2015 Specialized Turbo https://www.specialized.com/us/en/bik...ic/turbo/turbo . The Spec was a lot different feeling, the " kick" was so gradual that I really had to ride the same hill over and over again to feel a boost. The assist took too long or too gradual for me. So I gave it back to the dealer and asked to try this IZIP one, never heard of the brand before and was skeptical.
Until I rode it that is, the boost is almost like a mini turbo. It has a throttle. Crank it and you will feel it, much more playful and speedy in than the other bike. I can tackle hills without getting out of the seat now and can wear normal go to work clothes without sweating now. Not that I am going to do that, this is just another toy to me. The highest speed is suppose to be 28mph, I got as high as 23, 24mph on flats with full assist. I think this bike will get at best 20 miles with how I like to twist the throttle. The bars setup is too high right now, I think I will have to flip the stem upside down. The frame is very stiff, even with 45mm tires you can feel more of the road than on my steel bike.
