That scooter that obes99 put is really lame. It is a knock-off of a real scooter styling, yet has a fraction of the output. Motorists will perceive it to be a scooter/vespa, but it will top out at 32km/h, which by electric bike terms is really quite slow. It looks like it could go faster, but it can't, and furthermore, in many states, and in all provinces in Canada, it is ILLEGAL. For one, it does not have functioning pedals, and is not meant to be primarily pedal driven. Not only that, cops pull these riders over all the time. No fake.

Crystalyte is a good option since you can up the power quite nicely. 48V gives a great speed, up it some more to 60V or 72V and it becomes really fun. Check out some of the things the boys over at endlesssphere have done. Plus, the cost is way cheaper, and it is super whisper quiet, and very stealthy. (Not many will be able to spot it as being electric).

Snowsurfer In Canada The max legal speed for an E-Bike Is 32kph. any faster any you are stopped you will get fined for having an unlicensed LSM. Also Scooter style are type approved and legal. Both styles were tested and approved in the study that approved E-Bikes in Canada.

Not exactly. The maximum limit is for propulsion by the ebike, not if you pedal. If you pedal and go over the 32km/h, you are not breaking the law. Even if you are propelled by the motor alone upwards of 40km/h cops still will not pull you over. If you go 50km/h, the most a cop will do is tell you to slow down, unless you are exceeding the speed limit in the area for all motor vehicles.

Those electric scooters are not ebikes, they are electric scooters. The pedals cannot propel the electric scooter, hence they are illegal, unless registered as mopeds.

mto:
"It can also be driven like a bicycle without any power assist.
Is designed to be propelled primarily by muscular power and to travel on not more than three wheels"

I have an EcoBike, which has a throttle, pedal assist, and a power cutoff switch. The bike came complete with everything accept a lock and helmet. Their website is www.ecobike-usa.com
I highly recommend this bike, I just wish it came in more colors.

Nice bikes reminiscent of the eZee's. Which one did you get? Wonder what the OP finally bought?
