prebuilt electric recumbent?

Hi I intend to buy an electric bike to assist in making it around the city (17+ miles home to school to work to home). My current choice is the EcoBike Elegance. But I would prefer to have a back rest.

Does anyone know if there are any prebuilt electric recumbents out there? Something like a Bacchetta Giro 20, but electric assisted.

Thanks!

Terra Trikes has a "power cruiser", but its a reverse trike. Here a link

thanks for the reply, npkeith. but that's to low to the ground. i'm afraid i'd get run over the first day. forgive me if i use the wrong terminology, but i think i am seeking a semi-bent recumbent (something more upright).

I bought my son a lightfoot world traveler. It is built with the cyclone 500 watt 24 volt system. The bike itself is the most comfortble bike I have ever ridden. The 24 volt system is not the fastest however it is a very good assist system. With a 20 amp battery it does 17 miles very well. The world traveler is a old model Rod will still build. It is fast for a long wheel base bike. He has a new design out called the smoothie it is purpose built for the Bionx hub motor. I really liked my sons bike so I bought myself a ranger. Not assisted however the nicest bike I have ever owned.

The smoothie looks really nice, but it is sold without the electric kit. The bike it self is $1890. Once i add the cost of the kit it pushes the bike out of my price range (<$2000).

I found this one here. It is a Day 6 Journey with option to add a RoadRunner electric kit to the bike. Total cost $1400. Can anyone comment on the quality of this setup?

Ecospeed is the best electric system I have found yet. They will install their system on any recumbent you like. I also use the Electroportal (referred to as the Cyclone) 500 watt 24volt system on some of the recumbents. It is very easy to install on a Sun Easy1 or a Bike E AT. I have photos of both of those if you would like.

Just to get you up to speed on terminology...

What you are thinking of might be a typical recumbent delta trike. A delta trike is a trike with two wheels in back and one in front (tadpole is the other type, two in front). Most of them put your back kind of upright and your butt a couple feet off the ground.

To see what a semi recumbent looks like, have a look at this google image search:

UtahTrikes.com has many recumbent trike brands, and can ship you an electric version.
