20 inch E-bike ?(pic added..)
ok so, I have an old Trek 1.0g collecting dust in our shed.. and I somehow ended up watching too many e-bike movies on noob-tube...
I now have "the itch"... So,.. my question(s): would a 20" e-bike be worth-while? are there any good 20" hub motors?(golden motor?) would cheap 12v 18ah batteries in series "cut it" for a 36v motor? how much would I be looking at total for an "el-cheapo" setup? and.. what kind of top speeds could I expect ? Ty in advance. http://home.comcast.net/~imadepoops/treknoob.jpg |
You could always just get a chain drive kit. They mount a small motor on the underside of the frame where the kickstand goes.
I'm still very new to ebikes in general but I did see these when I was doing my research before I bought my bike & they are somewhat less expensive compared to going with a hub motor. |
hmm, I'm not even sure a hub motor would fit?..
http://home.comcast.net/~imadepoops/skinny.jpg was also thinking about a 1000w Currie motor mounted inside the frame with a freewheel crank.. not sure that would fit either... |
That bike looks like it has a nice solid fork so perhaps a front hub would be your best bet.
I just found this for you http://www.wildernessenergy.com/Prod...BD+Motor+Wheel There is a pulldown for wheel size & 20" is listed. |
meh, think I'll just say screw it till I get a mountain bike. (though 20"ers do seem rare.. o well)
|
ebikes.ca have hub motors on 20" wheels.

I'm probably gonna end up trying a gas powered kit actually... wayyy cheaper. (even if they sound like chainsaws...)
thanks though. |
