ok so heres the deal lol. im posting this thread for my grandpa as he is to old to pedal a bike anymore he loves to go fishing and in order to get to his fishing spot he has to ride a bike along a 1 1/2 mile **** and he has a currie electric bike and he cannot get the battery to make him halfway to his fishing spot let along the rest of the way there and back we have rebuilt the motor been through 3 batteries each battery last about 2 weeks and this is just getting to be a expensive FING headache and all the guy wants to do is FISH but this pieca **** bike wont make it there and back for him anybody have this same problem or just us?

A 1-1/2 mile total trip (3 mile round trip) along a flat ****? No uphill? What? Is he 400+ pounds? If not, then there's definitely something wrong.

Does he have to go electric for the path? Maybe it'll be cheaper to just get him a small gas-powered moped or scooter.

Maybe the problem is with your charger?

I read someplace on this board that Currie is now making lithium batteries for their bikes. This should increase the range dramatically.

I wonder if you have another problem. You said you replaced batteries twice. Does that mean you took the case apart and replaced the two cells inside, twice?
My eZip goes 20 miles with me at 220# up hill and dale.
But one battery pack (the one that came with the bike wasn't good for half that distance. When I took the battery pack apart I found a cold solder joint, with only about 1/5 of the strands connected at all, on the wire to the fuse holder. After I fixed that, the pack was good.

no he is not 400 pounds yes a flat **** and how did u tear the battery appart to resoder connctions without breaking the pack?

There are five screws visible on the back side of the pack recessed in holes. They are one in each corner and one in the center. Remove those and the two halves of the case can be separated. Then you just have to be careful not to damage any connections as you look around.

The case goes back together the same way it came apart.

nope not the battery but does anyone no were i can get a new electrical controll board for one of these and how much i found the problem with the bike after i tore the circut board appart and it is fried i tried resodering some of the parts that blew but it just kept melting the soldering joints so after about 3 tries i gave up ill just buy a new board depending on the cost
