bion x motor assist kits
Exspect a increase in price 30% in 2010 for this product and all parts that you may need to buy replacement batterys and the such starting to get abit costly now
|
Where did you hear that from?
|
It's already an expensive system with proprietary batteries etc. And its not sold out everywhere so I wonder how on earth they may add a whopping 30% increase to their prices.
|
all that's doing is helping the competition.
|
I wonder if the price increase has anything to do with the new Trek electric bicycles -- which all use Bionx drive systems. Maybe they're increasing prices due to limited production capabilities and having to provide Trek with all their parts.
They were already over-priced before... JEEZ! But if they're selling tons of stuff to Trek, maybe selling kits isn't their primary focus anymore... |

i am, a dealer for the product <email deleted by Mod> that is how i know of the price increases

I've been writing a bit about changes in the electric bike market at my own site. It sure fits the pattern to see Bionx taking this kind of approach. If you were the folks who own Bionx now, wouldn't you rather sell your product in bulk to OEMs rather than deal with the hassles of supporting small-volume dealers and their customers?
Don't get me wrong, I love my Bionx system. But I can understand why component manufacturers would want to shift sales to the major bike companies as the electric bike market matures. Surely they're not raising prices because of long-term trends in Lithium battery pricing... Charlie http://ElectricCyclist.com |
bion x assist kits
seems what crichman says is true high volume sales to trek would be better for the company but what of the 8000 units thet sold to customers last year
|
Thanks.
Another dealer has confirmed price increases effective now -- not 30%, but upwards of 10% on the PL-350 as one example. I love mine and i think a premium product can be worth a premium price. But at some point you do have to wonder... Charlie http://ElectricCyclist.com |
From what I have read the Bionx kits are already way overpriced. Just a little research reveals that there is definitely something shady about that company.
|
Well, they certainly seem to be following a different business model.
My question is: Does anybody have a proportional power assist system that works as smoothly as the Bionx? I hardly ever use my throttle -- I push harder and it pushes harder (and I get to choose how much help I get.) That usability bonus was worth real $ to me -- but it was pricey for me at the old price. Charlie http://ElectricCyclist.com |
