Running a 500W mid drive out of a 800w generator

Ok this is the deal i went camping by bicycle with trailer and i have been looking for ways to improve my traveling, before i start i am 5'10" 200 pounds and i walk every day i am not in that bad of a shape,i have posted on a couple of different forums here and most of the people just keep saying training is the only way and your cheating if you use e bike so and so ,and i agree with most of you pedal power is a great way to stay healthy and improve your speed and mileage. But i want to have the ability to flip a switch and go up the hill and turn it off and keep riding,4lipo and lithium battery are lightweight and have a great cycle life,i don't want to invest in something that for now i am only doing 1 or 2 a year and would die half way there.

Here i go i have 2 questions.

1-Has anybody tried to run a generator in a trailer just for the motor?.

2-Are pusher trailers illegal in NY?

To my understanding cops only go after bicycle with gas engines not electric (Only properly licensed individuals are permitted to operate registered and insured motor-assisted vehicles in New York. These vehicles are not permitted on streets, highways, parking lots or sidewalks in New York)
