check out these 2 videos...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5MkT...eature=related

this guy is getting 31 miles travelled on a 48 volt/10 ah lifepo4 battery...

and this video is a ELECTRIC 3 wheeled hang glider....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSp7Q...eature=related

it looks like they arent even using lifepo4 batteries....I think they are lead acid batteries...

Look again, the first one states in the title, and the second one says in some early subtitles, they ARE using LiPo batteries.

I like the second vid, I tell you, when we start seeing some new tech coming into the power storage, electric flight is going to be big.

The flying video...that guy has a few videos..one of them is when he first tryed out the motor/prop on the ground and did not fly it...I think in that video he may have had lead acid batteries...

I wonder how a 48 volt / 40 Ah lifepo4 battery and a 1000watt/ 48 volt brushless hub motor would work on such a flying glider as he has ? I would think the prop wouldnt need much power..but mostly speed....

here it is :

using 36 volt lead acid batteries for a ground test...at the end , you can see the electric motor is belt drive ..not sure if it is brushless...but surely a brushless setup is the way to go for most efficiency and power.

that glider is using a 14Kw { peak power** BRUSHED motor...which means the motor is operating around a 65% effiecency....if they went with a brushless motor, you are now looking at 85-92% efficiency ..and probably get by with using a lower rated Kw motor that is also lighter in weight..

the lipos are 3.3 Kw

I wonder why they would go thru the trouble of designing that thing...and not using a brushless motor. ???

they could use a brushless motor that has a enclosed gearbox....which would mean no pulley belts needed...
