UPDATE
maybe some would expect this thread to die, but my EPLUS summer and winter bikes refuse to die, they still going strong. summer season is over My summer EPLUS is still going strong - incredible. I finished summer riding season with 58,700 km on my BIRIA EPLUS bike odometer. I wanted to reach 60,000km. Not without problems, I would call them glitches like on display/controller day trips need to be reset twice. connectors to display/controller needed to be clean with contact cleaner. |
Well.....also an UPDATE. My original though updated (Tesla Mdl 3 21700 battery packs 11s4p) 2005'ish Tidalforce ebikes are still up and running too! Currently I've got 18 in the collection, w/all the models offered! :-)
Though I too have 3 EMS E+ in the ebike collection, but haven't really attempted to get them functional. Maybe soon. NFS. |
18 Tidial Force ebikes?
WOW how many 1000W models? my 1000W TF is long gone. it was my winter ride for years. Rock solid ride , smooth, silent , wonderful regen. but I removed TF drive from the frame , installed EPLUS drive. so on my summer and winter bikes I had same drive - EPLUS. it simplify maintenance - exactely same 2 drives. |

Would be nice if I had your knowledge of the E+ electronic, where I could remove the front hub board & use my 11s4p Tesla model 3 21700 celled battery packs to power up the 3 E+ ebikes I have too! |
Kauaikit,
very impressed with your collection of ebikes. BTW how did you get Tesla 21700 cells, where did you buy?? any chance to source 4680 Tesla cells? |
it has been long time.
I want to inform you that my summer EPLUS ebike is doing fine. it refuses to die. it shows incredible 60 740 kilometers /!!/ on odometer. it does not shows any signs that it is going to die. I look at any occasion to ride it . it is still the same motor, same controls. being designed and build in USA by Electric Motion Systems - incredible rare with ebike. of course based and manufactured in USA ebike company they went out of business, you know why, right? checking motor - it does not shows any wearing out bearing, any free play. I am not saying that it is completely perfect, small problem , I would say nuisance - trip kilometers - sometimes it take 2 times to cancel to zero. also I replaced throttle, potentiometer inside was worned out - and that is it. and here I want to say BIG THANK YOU to Wrandyr, member on this forum for donating throttle to me - Wrandyr you are the man with great heart. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...0a2e312df0.jpg |
I thought I might share this with other ebike owners.
throttle on my Eplus ebike lasted just over 62,000 kilometers. throttle quit half way trip to the grocery shop. Fortunetaly I have second paraller throttle installed on my Eplus, both throttles are switched by water proof switch. thanks to generosity of member Wrandyr I have spare one, but decided to repair failed one. All it takes is to replace faulty mechanically worn out potentiometer. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...adb246e5ee.jpg what is inside Eplus potentiometer. |
It has been long time but I want to update on my Eplus summer bike.
Some might think my Eplus just died already, another abandoned thread. But NO my Eplus is alive and working. As you can see on the pictures I installed new battery on it. Incredible millage of USA- made hub motor drive - 64 142 kilometers. my previous batteries on this bike was made from used hybrid cars battery cells. The battery you see in the picture uses NEW Hyunday Kona battery 60Ah cells. Yes battery is overkill I must admit, https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...582d8caea0.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...1d7c461593.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...5b3a893a1e.jpg |
Magic Pie China brand motor versus Eplus US- designed Eplus motor, just to give you idea. Magic Pie shows just a controller cicuit board removed from the motor, Eplus picture shows controller cicuit board mounted inside motor.

just the update on my Eplus bike.
Increadible number of views for this thread - the biggest number of views of any other threads. my summer Eplus is just doing fine , new battery pack is havey and maybe bulky. But I am only 72Kg, so you have to look at whole picture - bike heavy but rider light. I dont carry battery charger on my trips anymore. I rode 73km on one day with maybe max 70% battery used. I charge this pack to only 4V/cell . here is a picture of processing board and power board enclosure. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...587ecbede3.jpg electronics |
Good job; you're definitely keeping the brand alive. Too bad they weren't profitable and able to keep producing. I used to see a unit advertised on Craigslist occasionally, but nothing lately.
|
That's great yours is still going. I still have the Big Dummy with a Bafang mid drive on it now. I haven't been using it much. I have about 25,000 miles on the bike.
|
MM, haven't heard from you for a while and glad the BBS is operating well. My first one is in its 10th year (maybe 11th, I need to check).

Finally update on my summer Eplus bike.
Finally 2 days ago I reached 70,000 kilometers on my Biria Eplus summer bicycle. New battery I built from HYUNDAY KONA 60Ah rated cells is wonderful, I use max. 80% of capacity in general. I charge to 4V /cell only for long, long life. Placement of battery is critical for mechanical durability. I enjoy complete silence of hub motor DD, I hate whine of geared ebike drives. No any bearing free play on this hub motor, complete water-proof inside /I checked it inside https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...195eae0703.jpg / - quality of USA -build. |
