feeling scammed, need mini ebike advice
Hi! I need some help locating the perfect mini folding e-bike
I am beyond confused as to which companies out there are carrying truly quality ebicycles. I found a company who actually appears to be making their own bikes in france for quality sake - Mobiky. But is this true? You see, I just ordered 2 bikes described as "non chinese" (because I guess Chinese automatically means lack in quality? *sarcasm*) only to find out they have been around China for years at a fraction of the price and the quality wasn't that good :( There doesn't appear to be a lot of options when it comes to small foldable ebikes suitable for bus/train transport, and many of them seem to be over-circulated & over-priced cheap chinese imports with a new logo slapped onto them. I feel like there may be some great mini ebike gems available that I am not finding with google's help. Can anyone recommend a good mini ebike that fits these specs:
I have looked at the carryme ds and it is a bit too small and overpriced IMO. Also saw bikes like the "shrinker" & "BOB" which appear to be mobiky knock offs. One of the Chinese manufacturers who carried the "shrinker/bob" told me they no longer carry it due to stability issues, however I am unsure if they are the ones behind Golden Motors "Shrinker" or just another variant of the Genius/Youri 12. Really need 2 working bikes ASAP, I appreciate any leads or insight. |
For me converting a Brompton was the only truly viable option for getting a portable ebike that ticked all the boxes. Not cheap but you could buy second hand and convert.

You must have a prejudice towards ETHINIC. I have to say it's your bad luck to bought the inferior things.:)
And I do believe that the quality not depends on country and area. The most important factor based on the techlonogy and professional ethics and quality of the sellers. I was basically trying to say that just because something is made in China does not mean it has inferior quality. The bike I purchased for $995 was reviewed as possessing some sort of high quality because it "wasn't made in China". (And here is where I made the sarcastic statement). The reason I feel scammed is because I paid the $995 only to find it is sold in China for $328! Does Chinese = bad quality? No. This particular bike just happened to be made poorly and who wants to pay $995 when you can get it for $328? What's your budget to buy a mini-Ebike ? I am looking at a bike online called The Shrinker from Golden Motors $688. And the City Light bike from Rangebike $1,049. Shrinker ships from China so it is very expensive to ship to my location, especially if i need to return it. Rangebike is on the expensive side and not sure about shipping - waiting to get a quote from the company. What other mini folding ebikes are available? |
