OK, Here is a much better explanation of the different types of care and feeding required of different batteries that I have found, better said than I can/did, and is why I said that the manual needs to explain in more firm manner of how to take care of their type of battery for best performance and life... :innocent: http://www.biketechshop.com/electric-bikes-e-682.html

I now have 100 miles on my replacement/refurbished battery. Doing well. Fingers crossed.

Well I'm going fishing so I have to end this "experiment"... 6+ months +... http://s18.photobucket.com/user/wrxd...?sort=3&page=1 ALL my batteries are between 75% to 85% after 6+ months of no maintenance... ;) EDIT; In the last 6 months I had to charge the BionX battery 2X and it just sat there for the winter like my other batteries, That is the difference between the two types of batteries.... And my whole point of this is, If I didn't maintain the BionX battery and didn't charge it like the regular batteries it would have died and I would probably need a new one, and at $900. that would be a big hit.

I just went over 2200 miles. I'd ridden about 800 on the first battery, so that means this replacement battery has gone 1400 miles. So far, so good. I did notice the following:
When cold weather set in, I went from riding about every other day to maybe once every week or two. I'd hook the battery up to the charger every 5 days or so, knowing it depletes itself, naturally, even when not used. Well, when we had a run of warm days, I took it out a few times, and the battery depletes just a wee bit sooner than it did before the cold weather. It's still good, but not as good as new. Is it coincidental that it had a change that coincided with a period of disuse? I still think these lithium batteries the weak link in the chain. But, I enjoy my BionX, nevertheless. I can't say I regret buying it. I wouldn't recommend it as a sole means of getting to work everyday. I see it as for fun, and needing some babying. I'll keep you posted. So far, I'm relieved this new battery has gone 1400 miles and has a lot of life remaining in it. |
With my BIONX SL 350W G2 console, 9.6Ah system mounted on Tioba bicycle /Quebec, Canada/ I started to ride last summer. I made just 184 km and I love it. Went for example 30km in level 3 and not used even half of battery.
Even if ride couple of km , very short trip I always charge battery. Big mistake some owners make by thinking: " I don't need to charge still so much battery left". I think that it is common knowledge but again deep discharges shorten life of Lithium. |
