Battery- Was the c rating the cause of battery becoming damaged & can old cells mix.
Just had a guy with his not that old with little use battery die. (5 low v cells ) i suspect it was because the creating of this battery the BMS was high current enough for the motor but the cells c rating were too low , Could this be the cause???? as I'm finding it hard to get a replacement with the BMS with high enough current in this type. Its the key operated slide on 110x74x380mm type./ I made the bike up from old steel frame mountain bike welding in a slot for battery(didn't know of BMS battery, greenbike, & the Battery bikekit guys one thing with the bigger screw together battery its easy to replace cells as this stuffed one theyr'e all those small welded ones. i'm making up a pack with old cells & not so old hope they work .???

Yes, an insufficient C rating can lead to battery cell/pack damage. Other causes of cell/pack damage are: stalling the motor with the throttle "on", improper battery maintanance, and general abuse of the power system (i.e. allowing the pack to sit for extended periods of time without charging, overheating the battery due to excessive loads, etc). Please note that I am not accusing the owner/operator of abusing the system. Other causes of battery/cell damage would be internal or external shorts that drain the cells beyond recovery.
Mixing old and new cells, while not always the best idea, can be done as long as the every cell has the exact same voltage and capacity ratings.
