Light & Motion vs. Niterider headlight

Hey guys,

I saw some discussion on this issue before, but it's dated. I'm looking at getting a new headlight for my road bike. I need it for both city riding and mountain roads with no lights. I'm riding at 5 am so it's pretty pitch dark. I think I've narrowed it down to the Light & Motion Urban 650 or 800 or one of the Niteriders (650, 700, etc). The look and lightness of the Light & Motion is nice but the Niteriders look like they have more secure mounts. Anyone have recent experiences with these lights? I have carbon bars, so not sure if that's a factor.... Thanks in advance! :thumb:

Ended up just ordering the Light & Motion 650 from REI. With their 20% off coupon, it was only $103

Just a quick review: Light and Motion Urban 650 is super bright, weighs very little and has a fantastic beam pattern. The medium setting is perfect for the city. The high setting is great for non-lit roads. I wish the high setting lasted more than 1.5 hours, but the medium lasts 3, so that's perfect for my mixed-use riding pre-dawn.

Light and Motion makes great stuff. If you are looking at those lights, you should also be looking at the Lezyne lights. They are similar but have the option to have replaceable batteries on some of their lights. All in one lights are great and very convenient but the one big downside is if the internal battery runs out of charge, you're done and it's useless. I'm a big fan of L&M and love their beams but the non replaceable battery can be a problem.
