Garmin Edge 500

Aright I found the edge 500 kit (hrm and speed/cadence sensor) for 199 cdn and was wondering how well this works, if it's worth it, I was thinking of getting a Wahoo rflkt+ or Cateye Strada Smart and use my smartphone but at this price point it's pretty much a toss up. I dont intend to spent more than 200 on a setup.

I have a 500 and love it. Very simple looking like a regular bike computer but screens are adjustable with what you want. I have had no issues with mine.

I used a 500 until it was crushed by a car after I crashed into a car. It worked great. The sensors work with many other Garmins so if you upgrade later no need to buy them. I am using the 500 sensors with my 510 now.

I believe the Garmin 500 is still the best bang for the buck GPS out there. The 510/520 cost a lot more and you don't get much for that (maps and bluetooth syncing?). The 200 does not offer enough savings for missing HRM and cadence. At $200 for the bundle, it's a good deal. I love my 500!

The 500 remains a very solid gps computer. Of late however, I'd recommend checking out the new Garmin Edge 20, 25 and 520.

Being "new" means that anyone buying in the first 12 months gets to be a beta tester.

Buying a just-released Garmin is like walking into a dentists office and asking if you could please get a root-canal.

Root canals are yesterday, its now implants.

Shhhhhh! We want a lot of beta testers so that when we finally get one the majority of bugs will be worked out.

I had an 500, sold it and went with a cycle app on my Iphone, found my battery would last for an 1.5 hour, so, I bought another 500. Solid, good device!

yeah I missed the opportunity to get it at that price, sale finished before payday, so I think I'm going to go back to my original idea, my note 4 last for ever even with the screen on, getting 6hrs of video/web browsing, and almost 10 just streaming music. Might also wait for it to be on sale again or save enough for it, I was starting to be sold on the stand alone gps unit.
