Exporting mapmyride data to strava?

Just curious if there is a way to export my bike rides from mapmyride to strava?

Go to your mapmyride's activities page and click on the ride you want to upload to Strava. You'll see a TCX button. Click that, your data will be downloaded; then you can upload it to Strava. Make sure you remove "txt" at the end of the file if you're using a Mac. Click on the orange plus sign in Strava to initiate the upload process. Upload activity > file > choose file.

This works with individual rides. I don't know about exporting data in bulk if that's what you're asking about.

HTH!

the problem is Mapmyride modifies your TCX/GPX file and strips it of time data, so no speed or time stats are preserved when you upload to Strava, only the route based on GPS coordinates.

I just downloaded one of my files from MMR and loaded it into a text editor and nothing appears to be missing. All the times were in the appropriate <Trackpoint><Time> tags. I have downloaded TCX files from MMR before and uploaded them to Endomondo and didn't lose any data.

Nice, that has not been my experience but the last time I've tried was months ago. All of my Mapmyride activities, once exported and then imported onto Strava, showed up as routes only, no speed or time info at all. A Google search at the time suggested that that was a common problem regarding Mapmyride but if they have fixed it, then all is well. I ended up re-discovering my old Garmin Connect account and just exported my GPX files from there and imported them onto Strava.

Was a pain in the b.....

Not sure if this tool still works I haven't used it for quite a while (about 325 rides ago :) ):

MapMyRide GPX Converter

You have to convert each MMR ride 1 by 1 and then import into Strava 1 by 1.

"Luckily" when I decided to change I only had 100 rides to transpose across and just did over a period month by month.

This tool has been up and down from what I can see on the web, hopefully it's up at the moment !

Hope this helps.

I'm curious.
Why do you feel the need to switch from MMR to Strava?
I've been using MMR for over a year and am quite happy with it.

Well for one thing, Strava doesn't try to stop you downloading your data, like MMR does.

I was happy with mapmyride as well. But people kept telling me Strava was superior. So I started using it. And I agree.

For what it's worth, I just threw out all my old mapmyride data. Didn't end up putting it on Strava. It was only about 15 rides over 6 weeks and it was with a beater bike. I started using Strava at the same time I got my first real road bike, so I'll just ignore those first few rides.

Mapmyride file to Strava or into an uploadable GPX file.

Here is a way to export a TCX file from MapMyRide (MMR) and then convert it to a GPX file that Strava will accept. Strava does not accept GPX files that are directly exported from MMR because MMR is being a jerk and will not provide all the info needed for Strava or Strava is being a jerk and won't accepting basic GPS information for plotting just the route. So here's a solution:
  1. Make your MMR workout privacy "Public" or called "everyone" in the mobile version.
  2. Use the TCX button and export the TCX file of your workout and save somewhere on your computer.
  3. You need an intermediate application to take in the TCX file and spit out a GPX file. Here are two options, login (free sign up) to website GPSies.com OR login (free sign up) to Garmin Connect (you don't need a Garmin device).
  4. Import your TCX file to either one of these websites and use their export GPX function to create and export a GPX file.
  5. Go to Strava and use the Upload Activity function (a "+" inside a circle) icon and follow prompts to select the new GPX file. Or, in my case, I needed a GPX file that I can upload onto my device so I can follow a new route.
I don't know how to do a batch of MMR files, but I hope this helps if you just want to get a GPX file out of MMR to upload to Strava or just some GPS device for navigation.
