Corrosion-resistant USB cable

I am searching for the best way to connect my smartphone to an in-steerer USB charger. Standard cables tend to rust if exposed to rain.

A quick search suggests either gold plated connectors (but they may not work well in charging applications) or using an electrical lubricant (not obvious if this is wise for USB connectors).

Asking because I had to scrape a corroded connector today to get it to work. Had spent a night in the rain...

have you tried to use a simple usb cap?
