Headlight & Taillight, Rechargeable?
Looking for a recommendation for an inexpensive but effective rechargeable headlight and rechargeable taillight.
The Axiom Lazer 200 LED Headlight gets pretty good reviews for $25 and the CygoLite HotShot 2 SL gets pretty good reviews for $30. Are these adequate for a small amount of dusk riding or do I need something else? And do you prefer rechargeable usb or battery powered? I just figured USB would be more convenient but maybe not if they don't last long and are difficult to remove from bike. Thanks for your help!!! TripleB67 |
I have a set of Bell Radians, I think I got both for $20 or less. they are USB rechargeable and last a long time with the onboard battery. The taillight is great on flash mode to increase visibility. The headlight leaves something to be desired in terms of throwing light for me to see when it's totally dark, but it works better as a strobe to increase my visibity to other drivers.
the key is, do you want the headlight to make it easy for you to SEE or BE SEEN? if you just want to be seen, than any cheap reasonably light strobe will work great. if you want to see the road clearly, you should invest in something with several hundred lumens. |
Both of those lights should meet your needs. Don't have any experience with the Axioms;
but I'm on my 3 Cygolite from the Hotshot series/family. The 2 SL clips on & off easily; bend the locking tab and pull light off. It's even possible to charge the light without removing it if you park close to an outlet. See the rubber cover for the charging cable input at the bottom?: https://c4.staticflickr.com/8/7298/1...a6cbc9e964.jpgInstallation can wait by 1nterceptor, on Flickr |
