Dinotte Lights Kudos
 

A couple of months ago as I was walking from my bicycle locker to my office, a colleague caught up with me and mentioned he had followed me for close to a mile and could not see my tail light until pretty close. He mentioned he use to ride and highly recommended the Dinotte lights, saying they are quite visible even in daylight. That got my attention, so I did a search on this fine forum and read quite a few positives on the lights, the only negatives I saw were the price. My colleague had mentioned they were quite expensive, so I was warned, but seemed like a small price to pay for excellent visibility, especially since I commute daily.


So I finally pulled the trigger and received the lights, in addition to the quad red tail light, I decided to order the 1200 lumen headlight as a package. Although I was happy with my previous headlight, also 1200 Lumen rating, it had a separate battery which I did not like.


I did not mention ordering the lights to my wife and I made sure she was not around when I installed them because I wanted to see if she noticed the difference the first time she would see me off to work. Well when I turned it on she said "wow that is bright and obnoxious, did you get a new light?" Then at work a fellow who saw me arrive in the morning and then leave at the end of the day, said" if you are not too bright, (referring to my bright kit I typically wear), those lights are sure very bright.


While riding I have noticed cars seem to give me more room when approaching from behind. Also the customer service, I found to be good. So I am very happy with these lights and can highly recommend them to others looking for good high quality and bright lights.

I now have 5 dinotte tail lights and one double head light.

They are Old ones but still bright as ever.

That is encouraging they are still working well for you long term.

7 and 8 years old.

6 cell battery pack that give a long run time for when and if yours get Old.

How many of your tail lights are turned on in the above picture?

I have the Dinotte XML-3 that takes a 4-cell LiON battery pack. Do you know if this 6-cell pack will work with the XML-3?

I have a DesignShine DS500, but I think I would like the Dinotte Quad Red just as much, if not more because of the self contained light. I just came to the DS500 sooner.

The Dinotte definitely is visible from a long distance. I should probably get one.

[MENTION=89277]ten[/MENTION]wheels; About the first picture of your trike...I noticed you have what looks to be some kind of tarp that is connected to the bike. Is this just for storage or do you ride with that on the bike? Stupid question I know but since it is such a custom set up I have to ask the question.

Looks like you have all the bases covered with all the rear lights. If I were riding something that sat that low to the ground I'd plaster it with rear lights too. Now about the rear flag; If it were me I'd put some reflective DOT-C2 grade tape on the flag. Couldn't hurt.

Canopy is good on Low Wind Days. It broke once in high winds

The Lights are too Bright too see the flag.
I can only use three at a time as more Lights has Caused All the Traffic to Stop Five times.

Bought the Lights for Day Time Safety.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to order one this weekend - my original Dinotte battery pack is showing its age. I was going to see about getting it rebuilt locally, but I think this battery pack will be a better choice.

Get Two for that Price.

I'm thinking about it. Depends on shipping costs, etc. Thing is, I don't really need two. To be honest, I don't really even need one. I could probably get enough use out of my Dinotte pack to keep me going for long enough. My new winter commuter (should be ready by the end of the month) will have a dynamo hub, so the Dinotte will continue to be helmet-mounted. Once the Dinotte battery completely fails, I could use the N/R Lumina that I currently use on my bars as my helmet light.

Like I said, I'll check shipping costs. The battery pack itself is cheap enough (especially compared to the Dinotte), that it wouldn't hurt to order two.

Unique set-up! very cool. I was going to ask about windy days but seems you already know about that. Thumbs up earned for uniqueness ...:thumb: Brownie points earned for the knee high compression socks. ;)...and total respect earned for getting the most out of the older LED lamps. ( which while they might be older lamps they still work and still get the job done. Cheers and job well done. :beer:

Just tried to place an order. The product page advertises "This item ships free (worldwide)", but when I tried to finalize my order I noticed there was a $16.28 shipping charge. No other shipping options or explanations. I think I'll go back to looking for a local shop to re-build the battery pack.

Yup, I get free shipping up to that point, but once I start the "Secure Checkout" the site automatically adds in $16.28 for "UPS/FedEx (Large Parcels)". All other shipping options are "grayed out". If I was at home I could drop a screen shot into Photoshop and show a picture of my "Checkout" screen, and the "Customize Shipping" options, but since I'm at work, my tools are somewhat more limited.
