Garmin 800 maximum odometer reading: 4294967295 (2^32-1) meters, 26688 miles

I encountered another Garmin bug this week. The Edge 800 odometer tracks distance in meters, and stops at 2^32-1 (4294967295) which is 26688 miles.

It'd be nice if some one made working GPS computers for cyclists.

I'll figure out what it's supposed to be, subtract 20,000 miles, and get back to having something which matches the last four digits on my parts replacement schedule.

Couldn't you just define another bike and start from zero? It's understandable why the limit is there as it saves considerable storage. Not an issue these days but memory was more expensive when the 800 was designed. I don't know if the more recent Garmins, 520, 820 etc even have an odometer.

edit: Wait a minute. 2^32m is over 4 Million km. I know you ride alot but I don't think you're close to the limit.

Should still have an odometer but no longer have bike profiles, all of that is handled via Garmin Connect.

It was my impression that none of the units would save all of your rides forever - when the device gets full, it starts deleting off the oldest rides.

If you rely that heavily on the Garmin for parts replacement, I'd hope that all of this is tracked online and not on the actual device, that seems like a giant PITA to me.
