Have owned the 3 for some time (two years?) and the 5x for a few weeks. The 5x is a huge improvement. I've thought of using it as my primary bike computer but have not tried it. Will surve as my backup GPS during Dirty Kanza.

My Fenix 5s connects via WiFi to my router, but Garmin Connect on my laptop indicates that there is no connection. We pay extra for WiFi and get no value from it.
Hold down the light button (top left), scroll to wifi, hit start (top right), and it should connect to your wifi, sync your data, and disconnect. For me the real value in having wifi in the watch is being able to get software updates when I'm at work and don't have the USB cable. |

I am really glad I bought the Saphire. The Bluetooth is horrible, but my WiFi is great. The only way I can sync Garmin Connect Mobile is to use WiFi to sync with Garmin Connect on my laptop. I then sync my Garmin Connect Mobile from the Laptop. The latest firmware has rendered syncing my Smartphone via Bluetooth from the Fenix 5S impossible.
I am becoming very pleased with the 5s except for the horrible Bluetooth and lack of notifications. |
The other day I went out for a run, came home drenched in sweat, and took a shower. Then I did some laundry. Right after I started the wash, my F5X told me it lost the connection to my phone. A minute later I realized what I'd done. Phone won't ever turn on now. :(

I have the F3 which I use for running/bike/swimming. I'm wondering if a dedicated bike one is better/worth it? The F3 QR mount is very chunky so I only use it on the rare occasion and normally have it on my wrist instead.
Is the F5 much of an upgrade? |
