ending a ride on the Edge 810

I've used an Edge 705 for a long time, but recently upgraded to the 810. Setting up was pretty easy, even though there are some pretty big changes like the elimination of bike profiles to get accustomed to.

I was able to set up "auto pause" pretty easily as well. But, for the life of me, I find their instructions on "ending" a ride confusing. Unlike the 705, with the 810 you can't power it off until you end the ride. What I've done so far is just synch it while it's still on, but I'd like to figure out how to properly end a ride so that I can know how to handle a multi-day event.

Thanks for any help/pointers. I'm sure this is simple, but I don't find it intuitive on the 810.

Hit the bottom right start/stop button. You'll have to press and hold the left button to save the ride to memory and reset for the next ride.

And to expand on pdlamb's comment; you can power down and up again ( for example, if you're taking a lunch break ) and resume your ride. It will keep it all as one ride until you do the final save.

Is that button visible if you have "auto pause" on? For the life of me, once I set up auto pause, I don't think I'm seeing it anymore. But I've only done a few rides with the unit.

Thanks for the help!

Thanks! The 705 worked similarly, but it would power down without having to take a separate action to "save." If you didn't save, it would keep the current ride file open and would resume recording to that file the next day if you didn't start a new lap.

This is one of those things that appear different with the 810.

Forget the touch screen, this is the physical button on the unit. You'd have to cover it with something to make it disappear!

^^^ as stated , push button on bottom right once you finish ride. Screen should go to split with Discard on left - Save on right - tap save and it will return to ride profile screen.
