Make sure to update the firmware. Pair the sensors to your phone using the Wahoo Fitness app and it will check for firmware automatically.

I thought so too. Almost pulled the trigger on the combo. For now I'll keep using the phone for speed.

Can't believe how quickly the Cadence sensor as a standalone sold out. Glad I got in at the start. I had had it in my Saved list for at least a month. :-D

The cadence sensor is very popular in the triathlon community because it can be attached to the shoe.

The Wahoo RPM sensors do both Bluetooth and ANT+ and this was a selling point for me. It allows me to use either a Garmin (ANT+) or Polar (Bluetooth) GPS without having to change sensors on the bikes.

I have three bikes all have Wahoo RPM sensors.

Argh, I just bought a speed sensor last week. Haven't even taken it out of the box yet. Is there any way to get the deal retroactively without returning the sensor and then buying it again?

I doubt it. But you could probably return it since it's unopened and order the discounted one. Not sure if there is a return fee or not. But then you may be on the hook for ship back too.

When I've returned things in the past, they usually e-mail you a printable, prepaid UPS label so you can just drop the box off at the nearest UPS shipper. I'm not sure it's worth the hassle to save $10 though.

I did jump on the $50 combo deal however, since I wanted another set anyway.

Does anyone know if there's a functional difference between the speed/cadence combo and the sensors that are sold individually? I have one of their cadence sensors (purchased at a different time than the aforementioned speed sensor), and, IIRC, when you pair it in the Wahoo iPhone app, it asks you whether it's a speed, cadence, or speed + cadence sensor, which is confusing since it already detected the sensor and should know what kind it is.

There is no difference between the separately packaged RPM speed or cadence sensors and the RPM speed and cadence sensor combo that comes in one box. They are the same parts, just different packaging.

The "Speed + Cadence" sensor referenced in the Wahoo app is the "Blue SC" sensor which uses magnets.To make it more confusing, be aware that the older RPM sensors had a blue plastic shell. If you see the blue plastic shell in the package then it is an older RPM model. The newer RPM models have a black plastic shell. I'm not sure if the internals are different but it is something I noticed and some retailers still have the older model with blue plastic shell hanging on the shelves.

Don't confuse the blue plastic shell with the Blue SC model mentioned above. My guess is that Wahoo went with a black plastic shell because people were confusing "Blue SC" with the blue color of the RPM sensors.

I had wondered if there was a technological difference between the blue and black cadence sensors, but I don't think there is. You're probably right about switching to black to avoid confusion.

Also, if you choose options under the Wahoo S & C devices and choose the option for cadence that it shows only 4% claimed. I don't know why the discrepancy, but it may still be possible to get the cadence sensor for $10 off.

Received the Cadence Sensor today. Up until now I’ve only been using Strava/iPhone as a cycle computer, with a chest-based hrm (Wahoo Tickr). Importing the received data into Strava Premium+Stravistix and SportTracks has offered good data on my rides, but by adding another piece I should be able to extract more accurate data.

I have taken several rides on a popular trail ride nearby which I intend to compare with several more rides with the addition of the cadence sensor. I’ll post side-by-side results when I’ve completed my testing.

Read somewhere that the cadence doesn't work for running? Has it been fixed?

I dunno, I wake mine up by dropping my shoe on the floor. Ok, maybe it takes more acceleration than available while running properly.

I've no idea. Never tried it running.

Pretty much stays zip tied to my crank arms and that's it.
