I'm thinking of getting the Garmin UT800 headlight. Anyone tried it yet? I'd like to get some real world feedback before I bite the bullet. I know I can get some very good lights at similar to higher power cheaper but i like the "smart" features - I'm a geek, i admit it.
FWIW, I'll be pairing it with my Edge 820 computer. Thanks!

I am a geek too, but I mainly bought it because it is hard to fit a light on my bars. Unfortunately I only used it once so far. Will post if I get some more opportunities. It is well constructed though and I think bright enough (coming from a 1100 lumen Lezyne). I will use it commuting on road and on trails through woods with no lights .

Using it with a 520. One thing I wish is that they display the battery level as a percent instead of a battery graphic, which isn't granular enough IMO.

One other thing. To do firmware updates, you need to buy ant ANT+ USB stick for your PC that Garmin express will recognize. There are currently not any firmware updates.

There are some quite interesting possibilities to fit more gear to your bike (:

There was a firmware update today From 2.1 to 2.4:

1. Add support for high/low light intensity toggle in response to Varia remote high/low beam toggle command
2. Add ability to override automatic light commands from Edge by pressing the light button
3. Improvements to bike light network performance

#2 was important to me. I had to turn automatic off via edge to be able too get manual control back. Using the button on the light would revert back to automatic. For instance, in automatic during daylight, when I rode on trails to work, it would use daylight flashing mode when I really didn't need any light. Now I can physically override that.

Thanks for the feedback folks. This is helpful to know in advance:

Sounds like they've sorted the issues with the light turning off on its own (lots of talk on weightweenies about that) but that seems to have been tied to the Varia radar rear light.

With the latest Ultegra 8070 Di2 and a Garmin 520, I can program the top hood buttons to turn the light of/on and change the light mode. Just set it up. Cool.

I thought both the smart light and the radar tail-light run times ridiculously short
