Di2 + Garmin + Music?
So I have Di2 paired to a Garmin 1000, and a Terrano-X on my helmet paired to my phone playing music. Is there a way, (presumably involving the Garmin in some way?) to map my Di2 hood buttons to control my music and/or the Terrano-X?
Seems like this would require multiple Bluetooth pairings, which I've read is a thing on my phone, but I'm not sure about the Garmin. (It's a minor thing, the Terrano does have buttons on the top of my head, I just don't like reaching up there while I'm moving.) |
Maybe try Siri ?
JK You’d end up having her misunderstanding what you said and shift to big ring/small cog in the middle of a hill. And actually this isn’t a Garmin thing, it’s a Terrano thing, where you need the app to recognize a remote that controls pause, volume, play, etc.., cannot do that ? |

We have totally ignored the OP's question and he probably hates Americans by now.

This was in all seriousness. It's the Garmin unit that provides for the Di2 setup, not the E-Tube app or the Di2 system itself. The Garmin is receiving the appropriate BT information from Di2 and knows what to do with it. What the OP wants is for Terrano to pair with Di2, the way Garmin does, so as to allow Di2 to control Terrano. Seems nobody at Terrano has thought that this might be a useful, if very small set of users for it's app. |

Well, I did state "And actually this isn’t a Garmin thing, it’s a Terrano thing, where you need the app to recognize a remote that controls pause, volume, play, etc.., cannot do that ?"

The phone is paired to the Terrano. So the Di2 button presses would need to go through the Garmin. What I wasn't sure about when I first posted this was, can I simultaneously pair both the Garmin and the Terrano to the phone? And now that I think about it, the answer is Yes, I can see incoming text messages on my Garmin, while listening to music on the Terrano. I see an app I can put on the Garmin called "Tasker". According to the description, this allows a Garmin device to send commands back to the phone. So IN THEORY, I should, at the very least, be able to turn one of my Di2 buttons into a "next song" button, because the music player runs on the phone. What I suspect I WON'T be able to do is make one of them a "turn intercom on/off" button, as that is a button directly on the Terrano and there is no corresponding phone app that the Garmin could send commands to. Anyway, long story short: Has anyone used the "Tasker" app on the Garmin? I suspect I'm going to just have to try this myself and report back. |
