Is this Cateye going haywire
Strada double wireless... do these symptoms sound like a battery? Or... possessed?
It has always worked well but yesterday I noticed -0- cadence... then it came on / went off / came on again / etc. Then, I noticed the distance wasn't changing real-time but instead, the displayed figure wouldn't change and then it'd jump ahead all at once and, at the end of the ride the resultant figure was the correct distance-- so, it was accurately keeping track but not displaying in the normal manner. It actually froze on '666' (6.66 miles) for more than a minute which was pretty funny. |
Hit the reset button. Check the battery. Check battery on sensors as well.

Okay, now I'm concerned-- battery change went too easy!
Confirmed that rpms and distance still weren't working. Changed out the sending unit's battery and still no rpms... Changed out the computer and everything works fine. But, all my settings were still there... which was great although from what I saw on the net I apparently was to expect that all the necessary setup info would be required again because removing the battery would erase the data. Anyone else notice that the data had been maintained in memory long enough to snap in a new battery (perhaps because the computer's battery was replaced before having gone completely dead)? Did notice, however... when turning the pedal there's now a blinking arrow in the upper-left corner and symbol and I guess it is indicating that it's syncing or data is being transmitted. I don't remember seeing that in normal operation but maybe I just never noticed. |
The blinking arrow is an indicator of your current pace and how it relates to your average.
