DIY [Solar?] switch?

I thought my Luxos U had bit the dust, but it seems that only the remote switch has bit the dust. I can't use the USB function, but I use it as a headlight. I just can't turn it off. Been thinking there must be some kind of weather-proof switch I can just put between the hub and the headlight, maybe even a light-activated switch that would keep the lights off in the daytime. Just looking for ideas.

You said only the remote switch is bad, does that mean that the on/off switch on the lamp housing is functional? Why not just use that switch instead?

Or, if that switch is also bad, why not leave it on. Several years ago I bought a light in a clearance bin that was sold for bottle generators, no switch. I used that light for a year or two, just left it on. If for some reason I wanted it off, I pulled the connector off of the hub.

I think something like this would do it.

Is your system (switch) AC or DC?

It looks like this one takes 3 wires. (+ in), (- in), and (+ out).

The switch on the lamp is a little fussy. When I had the light apart on the workbench, I was able to get it switched on. So far I've been unsuccessful at switching it off while it's attached to the bike. I have been just leaving it on. The biggest issue is that I do a lot of bike and bussing. I feel like at some point putting my bike on the bus with the headlight on and pointed at the next lane of traffic is going to cause an issue. Even with a switch, I'd have to wait for the stand light to die, but at least the light wouldn't leap back into action every time I rolled the bike a little. I'm considering a little bag to pop over the headlight before it goes on the bus, but actually having control over the light would be preferable.
