What would be the advantage if I upgraded to the Element Bolt

Upgrade from what? I use the Wahoo Elemnt with a Pixel XL and it works great.

I went from Wahoo Elment and a Samsung Galaxy S8 to a Garmin Edge 1030 and the Samsung. So for me struggling to see any advantage.

I'm sorry,as of now I'm using my Galaxy phone with the Wahoo Speed and Cadence. With the phone it records the route, amount of feet climbed, mph, and Gps elevation. The downs side is it drains my battery. Even if I had the Element I would carry my phone.

You might carry your phone, but having an Elemnt or Elemnt Bolt wouldn't run down the phone battery the same way. In this regard, it wouldn't be that much different than just having your phone sitting on your desk while you are at work.

When I ride, the phone itself is in a pocket or pannier. Sometimes I run the wahoo app on the phone before starting the ride, sometimes I don't bother. But if I do have it running, I get caller-ID on the Bolt so I know if it is something I ought to stop and answer, or just another telemarketer. If I don't have the app running, I would hear the phone ringing, but not know who it is.

Before I got the Bolt, I had a RFLKT, and that thing was tethered to the phone and only acted as a remote display for the phone app. Thus if the phone battery went flat on a ride, the RFLKT would go blank as well. This won't happen with an Elemnt - it is autonomous - it can largely do everything without needing to be connected to the phone. If you wanted to change route in the middle of a ride, you would need to pull the phone out.

You could go for an auxiliary battery, like this: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCo...70_&dpSrc=srch, but there are lots of other choices, too. Just don't believe the amperage claims....

Have you thought of getting a cheap small phone as a bike computer? Just swap in your sim card and leave your big phone at home (unless you're on Sprint/Verizon). I use the Wahoo app on a Motorola E 2015 and it's great. 5hrs battery life (+12 with an external battery when needed) and it is possible to get ANT support as well so it connects to my HRM and speed/cadence unit.
