Strava/Garmin/bluetooth/android smartphone?

I have an LG5 smartphone with Stava installed and I have the Garmin GSC 10 installed to work with my Garmin edge 800 when I'm not using my Smartphone with the Strava app. What I'm trying to do is get the cadence data to pair with the strava app allowing me to see my cadence on the phone screen as I ride. I'm led to believe that the GSC 10 should work through blue tooth signal with the smartphone but I'm unable to get it to work. I've installed the ANT + Plugins Service on the phone but that did not seem to fix the problem.

I don't think there are any LG phones that support Ant+. You can do your own search at this website: https://www.thisisant.com/directory/filter/~/60/~/
From what I can tell, the GSC 10 is not equipped with bluetooth.

So if I'm right, this sensor is not going to work with your phone unless you get an Ant+ dongle for the phone. Better to get a wahoo or other bluetooth/Ant+ sensor

Do you have Strava premium? I believe live stats (cadence, etc.) are available only with subscription (I think it's now called "Summit" - but the paid options).

I do have premium but the issue is my cadence hardware is not Bluetooth.

Garmin speed and cadence sensors are ANT+ only. They don't do Bluetooth.

I can't help with ANT+ setup as I'm on the Polar platform which is Bluetooth only and I'm using an iPhone.

I could be mistaken, but, the LG G5 smartphone is not ANT+ compatible. You can download ANT+ apps all you want and it still will not turn your LG phone into an ANT+ compatible device. You may have to root the device, but it will be very buggy and unreliable. Check out the ANT+ directory if your device is compatible here:

How about buying an ANT+ dongle that will plug into the usb port on the phone?

Since your phone doesn't support ANT+, you'll have to spend some money, as the phone is BTLE only and the GSC10 is not. If you want heart rate, too, consider the nifty Viiiiva heart rate monitor. It will bridge all your ANT+ transmitters, including speed and cadence from the GSC10, and broadcast all 3 signals over Bluetooth 4.0 to your Android phone. You could also go with cadence and speed sensors that are both ANT+/BTLE, but it will cost more. If you just want cadence and are okay with speed derived from the phone's GPS, a Wahoo cadence sensor or similar is probably the way to go. It fits right on your shoe and no one will ever know you have it.

Due to the mount, I'm using for my LG5 phone I'm unable to mount an ANT+ dongle to the usb port on the phone. I did download a ANT+ app and you are correct it does not work with the phone.
