So lights with MonkeyLink mount wold be a good choice.
They are offering lights with internal battery as well as high power lights like the Supernova M99 Mini PRO.

Riding part of the way on a bike trail?

A light that's easy to rotate downward will keep from blinding the oncoming riders. My Dinotte, for example, has a rubber strap around the bar. I can easily push the light forward, aimed just in front of the wheel. That's great for night time group rides, too -- no weaving shadows projected in front of the rider ahead.

Some mounts are more of a clamp with a screw to tighten. Perhaps these could be set just tight enough on the bar to hold position, but still allow rotating up and down.
